Target Audience Research and Planning

I have decided to analyse the data from the UK Film Council and identify the demographic that watch my chosen genre most often including social class age and gender. Once I have established this I can plan my film opening in more detail. I can then talk to my target audience and find out what they like and dislike about the genre in question. Our chosen genre spy/action (including martial arts).

The above data shows a general market overview of the Great British public consumption of films who are aged 16+. This data includes the total consumption in the last three months. Film consumption ranges between 16 to 55. It also represents how much consumption has taken place whether it is none, light, medium or heavy. This data is useful because it gives us an idea on what age our target audience should be.

The above data shows that our chosen genre Action (including martial arts) is in the top ten most watched genre. It seems that we need to target our age range at males 35+ with children and from a middle class background. Also from the data it appears to me that females 35+ are not keen on watching action films. We want to make sure that males and females can enjoy the genre equally. Action films are a mainstream genre so it is well known to our chosen demographic.
